Drifters ドリフト族

It's amazing how busily
We strive to get from
Point A to Point B

How hard we fight
Racing each other just
To stop at the red light

And at the intersection
Ignoring where we've been
We avoid eye contact
Then start speeding again...

Sunflower Sunset

A little simple happiness and peace,
Is sometimes the best you can get,
All good, lying back on the grass,
Looking out on a sunflower sunset...

(By Mark Harm Niemeyer)

Busy At The Monastery

Belgian monks brew a strong beer,
Alcohol content about 9 percent,
Drink its smooth bitter gift, soon
You don't know were you went...

Be This The Verse

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

(By Philip Larkin, April 1971)

.... My muse ....

Convection Rejection

The storm approaches, rumbling,
And she, and I, are on the porch,
Tension rising, as I'm fumbling
With her bra-strap, not aware
Of the thunder clap, sudden boom!
Then pow! She's no longer there...

Woods, Would...

I had a dream, walking through
A forest, all silence and peace,
Spreading about, afoot, all blue...

1962 Nelson's Kanji Dictionary

I keep my father's book, like a secret prize,
On the shelf, sometimes under my pillow,
Fingered pages known only to my eyes
The book, one the few physical things
Linking me to Papa, now so long gone,
Taken away to soon on angels' wings...

A Hippie's Advice

Tomorrow's wind will blow,
Whichever way it will,
Gone by before you know,
So make sure to enjoy it
All, and go with the flow...

Spring's Deception

Spring puts on a cool masquerade,
A green show of a new beginning,
But a deal's already been made
'Tween winter and summer, soon
We'll be sweating in the shade...

Morning Message

Still dark, just before dawn,
A bird sings, another answers,
Assuring each other upon
The new day's arrival, they
Survived the night now gone...

The Final Toast

He, and the three others, still alive,
Heroes and survivors, 70 years
After the famous raid on Tokyo...
With courage bigger than their fears,
They flew toward death, most
Surviving, returning to the cheers
Of a wounded nation, all of it
Now history, the last four have
Come to together to open and split,
In a final toast, a 117-year-old
Cognac, to drink and to remit
A portion of the debt to their
Buddies who died, but did not quit.

Message From The Big Beyond...?

Facebook sends me a notification
Of a birthday for a friend who's dead,
That's just great ... hit the like button?
Sad tidings better left unsent, unsaid...
Facebook should send a eulogy instead.

Asian Demographics 移民問題

Japanese quit making babies,
So lots of Chinese came
To do the work, thereafter
Things were never the same...

The View From Moscow

Located in the Eurasian landmass,
Surrounded by rivals on all sides,
Through the long frigid winters,
And foreign threats, Russia abides.

Clock-watching For Adults

I remember watching the clock on the wall
In the school room ... it seemed so slow,
The minute hand taking so long to move,
Many years later, I've come to know,
That time flows much faster, hours
Barely sensed, and then away they go,
Time accelerating in proportion to
Increased age, in a merciless flow...

I Can, I Will

When something inside calls out
For courage, a chance to be more
Than average, perhaps even great,
Strive like you've never done before,
Move, Act, vice leaving it all to fate,
That's when you finally realize
Your power, which was always there,
Hidden, right before your eyes...

Chosen One

How nice it must be
To be devout
And have all things
Figured out

A holy book
With all the rules
And any who
Disagree are fools
Who are headed
To a burning hell
But not yourself
As far as you can tell

Stimulation

I thought that all was normal,
Senses controlled and working,
But that was before she walked
In, and my brain started twerking,

A swift spontaneous reaction,
To her varied curves, displayed in
A ratio designed for attraction,

Blood flow, engorging, surges
According to uncontrolled,
Unbidden, biological urges...

Retired On Active Duty

Drink my coffee, and enjoy the view,
Passed over, I man my empty desk,
And quiet phone, the whole day through
To an evening commute, back into
The nothingness of an empty room,
And a reality I wish I never knew...

Erin Go Bragh

Saint Patrick's Day, and I get
In touch with my Irish soul,
Drinking Jameson early,
Then later, puking in a bowl.

Currents

Luck, and the fates,
To which we are consigned,
Sweep all of us along,
No one left behind...

受験地獄

The walls of the college examination hall
Are spotted with the imaginary stains
Of young exploding brains...

Fluidity

Events and feelings,
Swirl and rearrange,
Nothing is constant
But change...

Any Port In A Storm...

All the time put in,
The sweat and tears,
All subsumed within,
A maritime tradition,
Which, eats you up
And spits you out,
Before you know
What it's all about,
The ships will sail
With or without you,
Complain to no avail,
It's all bigger you see,
Life's work absorbed,
Underway into futility...

Avert Your Eyes

The monsters dance in a circle,
Holding hands, they go around,
Cellulite jiggling beneath their
Clothes, they shake the ground,
The monsters, lost in their joy,
Waddle and stomp to the sound
Of music meant for gentler souls,
All that meaning nothing to
The weirdly bouncing trolls,
The monsters in a happy trance,
Celebrate, with obese abandon,
An unsightly winter's dance...

Family Reunion

Waiting for loved ones
To walk through the door...

And we'll hug and smile
Separated no more
By distance and space

All together and happy
In our old home place.

Round and round, the koi,
Swim, in the pond, in the
Patterns carp will employ,
Which those of us watching
Them, tend to enjoy...

Revealed From Altitude

Earth, seen from space,
Seems like a nice blue
Green-colored place,
Until a closer look
Reveals the trace,
Of the toxic rust, caused
By the human race...

窓際族 Restructured

I'm shown to a new office desk
By the window, the secretary
Kindly offers me a cup of tea,
Then goes, and I'm left with nary
An idea of what I am to do,
Other than collect my old man's
Pay, sit back, enjoy the view...

In Early April

Winter's cold challenge
To patience and survival,
Now dissolved in the wet
Green of Spring's arrival.

The months which
Sequentially pass,
Are recorded in the
Colors of the grass,
Brown turning to green
As the weeks pass by
Quietly, almost unseen...

Mind Games

It is a simple case of my not
Knowing or remembering,
Which, I seem to have forgot.
