The Jomon people of ancient Japan
Ate nuts and shellfish and did not farm,
They made pottery and fire danced,
Living within nature, causing little harm,
Until those would would make rice,
Came over uninvited, and weren't so nice...
Jomon dreams receded into forest and hill,
But the beauty of their way, lingers still...
